Christus Vivit Fellowship forms young adult Catholics (ages 18 - 25) to be life-long missionary disciples, those who personally strive to follow Christ and help grow the Church. The fellowship helps participants develop the key understandings, attitudes, skills and relationships needed to support Church growth for the next generations.
Service – The missionary disciple is of service to others.
The fellowship begins with an experience of serving those in need in the poorest diocese of the country, Gallup, New Mexico on the Navajo Indian Reservation. The first days of the fellowship are spent assisting the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Missionaries of Charity, and the Sacred Heart Retreat Center. Each participant works in a soup kitchen, at nursing homes and at a Catholic retreat center.
CHRIST IS ALIVE
Study – The missionary disciple seeks to understand the mission of the Church.
Begins May 22nd
The fellowship includes intellectual formation in the saving message of Jesus Christ and understanding the vocation of each person within the Church’s mission. These courses and workshops equip participants in four vital areas of missionary discipleship: human, spiritual, intellectual, and service-minded formation.
Our theology course is Human and Spiritual Integration, taught by Fr. Ignatius Mazanowski, with three transferable credit hours available from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
The full course schedule is available at ictphx.org/summersymposium.
In addition to opportunities for social time and prayer, participants will have the opportunity for exciting excursions/camping/hiking.
Sent Forth – The missionary disciple has a growth mindset and is dedicated to evangelization.
The fellowship forms the participant to be sent into the world as an ambassador of Christ and His Church. This aspect is accomplished through long-lasting friendships, workshops, and post-fellowship internships.
"Christus Vivit Fellowship brings together crucial elements in the Christian formation of young people. Please join me in support of this inspired apostolate through your prayers and financial contributions that this may produce lasting fruit in the lives of those our Lord calls to participate."

I have never been around so many wonderful Catholics who loved the Lord and just wanted to encounter Him with and through others. It was beautiful to see how evident and intentional the Lord was working through getting everyone on this trip. I can’t wait to see all of these new friendships grow!

I truly believe we made a difference in people’s lives and the friendships I made will be lifelong friendships. Encountering God every day made it an amazing experience. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good catholic friendships and a deeper relationship with God.

I would confidently say that I have never felt the Lord so intensely and actively in my life as I have on this fellowship; I think just being surrounded by peers so on fire for the Lord encouraged my desire to be closer to Him as well as my awareness of the ways He is present in my life. Experiencing these genuine relationships, acts of service, and beautiful sites just opened my eyes to God’s glory. Learning about Theology of the Body also implored me to see the image and likeness of God in each person I encounter. I am so thankful for this opportunity that has brought me immensely closer to God and clarity for my vocation and allowed me to grow in Christ’s love the way He intended us to share it.

Christus Vivit was the perfect opportunity to grow as a missionary disciple for Christ. The fellowship, service projects and class work all worked together to draw me closer to Christ through the Holy Spirit. The relationships I formed on this trip are rooted in Christ, and will continue to push me to become a better man of God and witness to the world.

Throughout my CVF experience, I discovered the gift and importance of presence. At the Little Sisters of the Poor, the elderly came for exercises but stayed for conversation; at the soup kitchen, the homeless came for food but stayed for smiles; at the Sacred Heart Retreat Center, we as missionaries came to serve but stayed for friendships, discipleship, and beautiful encounters with Jesus Christ. My time in Gallup, Flagstaff, and Sedona was valuable beyond words because I listened to countless heartfelt testimonies, learned about Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, and experienced the beauty and peace of God’s creation. Most of all, I am so blessed and humbled to have become close friends with my fellow missionaries, for their faith in the Lord was truly an inspiration for my own faith journey.
